OUR WORK
Signing Bee
This is a spelling competition for children with hearing impairment organized yearly in Nigeria by YMTUF to commemorate the International Day Of Sign Languages. The project aims to raise social awareness of the Sign language while spreading its use and importance to the development of the deaf child. It also seeks to improve literacy capacity amongst the deaf and hard of hearing children from different schools while boosting their self- confidence and communication skill in order to enhance participation and interaction with their community leveraging on the knowledge gained.
Safe Period & Menstrual Aid Box
The project S.M.A.B (School Menstrual Aid Box) focuses on ending period stigma and poverty with the believe that menstrual products should be made readily available in schools just like “First Aid Boxes” most especially for girls living with disabilities. This project provide menstrual aid boxes, one for each school containing necessary hygienic menstrual products that girls require during their menstrual cycle. The S.M.A.B is our innovative approach in ensuring that no girl living with disability will be deprived access to quality education or their basic human rights because of their monthly cycle.
Parents Of The Deaf Sign Language Training Program
The Parents Of The Deaf Sign Language Training program is a co-event of the Signing Bee competition organized yearly to commemorate the International Day Of Sign Languages with a focus on challenging common stereotypes and bridging the communication gap that exist between parents and their deaf children through training on the Deaf culture and Sign language.
